- Always require an estimate
- The shop may need to perform a diagnostic test to determine the problem and know the total cost
- It is always best to have a referral before using any shop
- Keep routine maintenance current; it is vital to your vehicle’s health
- If the problem is determined to be in a specialty area (such as transmission, exhaust, or collision repair) make sure the shop has the right knowledge, tools, and certifications to do the repairs. - General repair categories can include; brakes, wheel and tire, cooling systems, shocks, oil changes/lubrication and other minor repairs and diagnostics. Do NOT use a general repair facility to perform major work, such as transmission repair.
